Jesus is the reason we do what we do. He is our motivation for loving people. He is our provider, the source for all that is good. We desperately seek Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We do this because the greatest thing on earth is to know Jesus more. We are also passionate about seeing other people know Jesus.
So, who is this Jesus? Here are the essentials, that all Christians believe, regardless of denomination:
Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was 100 percent God and 100 percent man. This is known as hypostatic union and makes Jesus Christ unique in His role as Lord and Savior and the Word made flesh. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross; thus, through the shedding of His blood, He atoned for the sins of those who put their trust in Him as Savior. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory (see Isa. 9:6; John 1:1 – 14; 20:28; Phil. 2:5,6; 1 Tim. 2:5; 3:16).
