  1. Resonate Student says:

After hearing Brian talk about praying a dangerous prayer (That God would have someone ask me about my faith, and I will gladly share it with them;if no one asks me, I don’t have to share it) I went home and for the next few days prayed that prayer. I thought God would have me wait for a while before answering, I didn’t think I would be knowledgeable enough or have the right answers for that person in a conversation of such importance. Incredibly, just three days after beginning that prayer, I had the opportunity to talk for about an hour and 20 minutes with one of my friends about God. We had a work period in class and a substitute teacher that day, and we got into a really deep discussion. The substitute teacher who was sitting right by us actually jumped in at the end of class and gave my friend and I a website to go to for answers to common questions about the Christian faith. I ended up crying while talking with my friend, and I think God started something amazing. I don’t think that person is completely changed or now a full on Christian, but God fueled that conversation on, and I’m sure it was for a reason. God really does answer prayers, and now i have concrete evidence of it. God is so good:)

  2. Monica Smith says:

Awww Jimmy! That is what Resonate is all about. That is what Jesus is about. Psalm 46:10 says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Stop what you are doing whether it be drinking, smoking, hurting yourself, lowering your standard for guys… whatever it may be. Just stop. Be still. Why do you do those things? I can’t even tell you how any stories I have heard in class starting with “Oh man we were so wasted last night…” or… “oh dude we got so high last night…” But then I as them, why? And they either answer: “uh, I don’t remember,” “cause there its nothing else to do,” “cause I didn’t want to look like a loser” or, even have heard this one quite a lot actually… “I just want to be numb.” What young person wants to feel numb? You are just starting your life! You should be living everything to the fullest! You should have great memories to tell your kids!… But how will you when you can’t even remember what you did last night? But what I find the most disappointing, “cause I didn’t want to look like a loser..” Is that the truth? If you get so drunk you can’t stand every night, that is the only way to live? There is no other happiness.

I have news for you. That is a lie. But I will tell you THE ONLY TRUTH. In the entire world. Are you ready?

    Jesus.

That is the only truth in the entire world. The only way. And the ONLY life. You CANNOT come to the Father (God) in Heaven without Jesus Christ our Savior. Like it says in John 14:6.

So be still. Stop what you are doing. The only way for TRUE happiness is Jesus. The only truth to happiness is Jesus. No need to be angry at anything, God can take ANYTHING you got. He made the Heavens and the earth… He can handle anything you got. Build a relationship with Him and find out about His power, love and mercy. Christ Jesus is the only way for true happiness in your life. No other way around it.

You are never numb. You are alive.

    Become alive again.

Accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior. The one perfect man, the Son of God, willingly died on a cross for your sins. For what brings you down every day. What hold you back from being happy.

I think we have all heard the saying, “Let go and Let God in.” Do you understand it? Be still and let go of your burdens, your past… and let the forgiveness and mercy and love consume you. You are forgiven because of Christ. Because He took your sins with Him.

Now, why wouldn’t you lay your life down to someone like that? Or even bigger question, why wouldn’t you lay your life down to the Almighty God that created you?

    Be still.

Because you are the one Lost sheep that your one Shepherd will put those of us who follow Him aside for.

    Be alive again.

  3. Student says:

So…. God saved my life…. cant get those words out of my head.
Soo I was going though alot, i was tired of hurting, I wanted it all to end But my friend Monica:] started taking me to church and i realized. you know what Jesus loves me and i dont care, i dont care that my parents fight all the time, i dont care that im a loser,i dont care that i was in the hospital, i dont care that im miserable going though all the other stuff. I DONT CARE! jesus loves me and I love him and thats all that matters, and that was my turning point. Ya lifes tough but with God there nothing you cant do.

So for all of you who are going through a rough time, whether it be at home or school or friends. I just want you to know that you can take it, God has a plan for you and he knows you can do it and he will always be there for you and be someone you can lean on No matter who you are, No matter what you’ve done even if you dont even believe in him. Hes there for you. And he will always be there for you too. And now look at me, im soo happy i cant stop smiling. Trust me from someone who has been through it when i say that God is the way to go. Also Brian Haas is awsome! and a great person to talk too! and i know what you are thinking cause once again i was you, “Well i dont want to bother him”…. well he wants you to bother him he would love nothing more then for you to annoy him into a coma. “But its going to be so awkward”… Ya its not after like 2 sentances you realize hes a boss. so take it from me and put God in the middle of your problems, It was the best decision i have ever made and God saved my life….
P.s. Hey you reading this……Yes you. Jesus loves you:D .

  4. Sooo…. Last year my best friend in the world lillian asked me to come to church with her and at first i was thinking hmmm,,, church sounds weird but hey i will give it try. Little did i know 8 months later i would be getting the chance to go to move and getting Baptized. This has all just been so unreal. with that being said i just would like to tell you a story about how i have finally gotten my step brother cade to comit to coming to church with me once to see what it is like. So a little bit about my brother…. He is 15 sophmore at lincoln high, he isnt the smartest kid when it comes to making good choices so this is why i have tired everything in my power to get him to come to church. Sooo when i got back from move in july i decided to try to talk to my brother about the things he is doing are wrong and how he can live a better life, ect. Well he didnt wanna hear it,he told me he wouldnt come to church because it is just a whole bunch of crap written into a bible that is all make up by some dumb guy. Well i respected his remark and just didnt let it stop me. In fact it made me wanna keep going, i talked to brian and brian told me to just tell him once a week that im praying for him so i did simple as that, every monday when i got home from school i would look at him and say im praying for you, he would always give me these weird looks at first but finally the 4th time he was like why are you doing this, i simply told him its because i love you and god loves you and we dont wanna see you get hurt, and he just ignored me. But then little did i know he would get in big trouble doing something wrong and then come up to me the next day and say im done doing this crap i wanna try to go to church, im ready for a change. I simply leaped around my house with joy and called brian. Now i thought getting my brother to come to church was an accomplishment but that night my step mom asked me about it and now my whole family wants to come check it out. This has been the hardest but best month of my life. But the thing is i feel so great about expressing my feelings for god and getting people to see how god has changed my life. I just cant wait to get out there and talk to more people about how god has changed mine and my families life! Oh and a HUGE thanks To Brian Haas for supporting me through all this, you are the best(:

  5. My friends, Brittany Michael, Ashley Carstons, Sterling Quinton (brother), Brandon Walberg, James Smith, and I all decided that we wanted to get the word out about this AWESOME event called Block Party. We thought that the best place to find kids that were our ages was at the mall. Turns out we were able to pass out a bunch of cards, to a lot of kids that seemed intrested in going to a party. We decided that we would tell people, “It’s a church event to promote our church and get invovled.” Some times we got rejected, but other times kids were very interested in what we had to say. By making shirts and videos, passing out cards, having fun, and oodles faith, we were able to pass out over 200 cards. Our group goal was to do just that, and have at least 50 people from the mall come. I pray that our goal will be met, and that we all will have a great time at Blcok Party, a.k.a. THE PARTY OF THE YEAR.

(just a foot note) We had such a fun time passing out the cards that we made an awesome video. It would be really cool if you showed it on Wednesday, just to show these kids how passionate we are about this Life Group/Party.

    Thanks,
    Dakota Quinton :D

  6. Samantha Hall says:

So I play soccer and have been on the team im on for 2 years. Unfortunately, we have practice on Wednesday nights, so most wednesdays i have to miss Resonate. BUT! for the block party this wednesday my coach said that maybe instead of practice, the whole team could have some team bonding time and come to the Block party! its not a definite yes, but its a maybe! My whole team might be able to come to resonate for the block party, and could be exposed to God and his love. I am so excited and hopeful at this potential of this Wednesday, God is so good! If you could pray that my Coach says yes to Block Party, that would be great! thanks!

  7. Brandon Walberg says:

Kay. So Dakota, Sterling, Brittany, Ashley, James(for over half the time), and I went to mall on the 29th of August to pass out invites to Block Party! We really are hoping to have a good outcome. So then today I passed out all the rest of my stack of Block Party cards and I actually ran out. I was kinda sad even though people were betting that I would not be able to pass em all out by Wednesday. I ran out in 24 hours. Nothing is impossible with the help of God. God is Good

  8. Jasmine Davey says:

As soon as we saw the Zambia’s Song preview I just thought it was ridiculous that more people die of water disease than anything else. So I am currently putting together some fundraisers for Zambia including a CIY reunion pool party this friday! Will have smores, music, games, Guitar hero, and a lot of other fun stuff and the only thing you need to enter is at least a $1 donation to active water, all proceeds will go to Zambia for water filters! Along w/ that a couple benifit concerts are in the makeing and at Biola me and a few friends raised $351 in 2 hours just from playing and singing! We changed the lives of 4 families so I was happy my Kingdom Worker card said learn a foreign language and go on a Missionary trip next summer! I am so on fire for God!!!

  9. Joshua Volkmar says:

So back at MOVE on the last day I believe, my friend’s and I got a group of students together to play guitar and ask for donations to an organization called Active Water. Active Water assists in the supply of clean water to people in third world countries. They offer a special piece of equipment called the “bio-sand filter.” This filter simply uses sand to create a small culture of bacteria to kill off disease causing bacteria and clean out dirt, waste, etc. These filters last for 20 years and save a lot of lives from contaminated water. Over the course of about 2 hours we raised a total of $356 which pays for 4 filters at $85 each. It was an amazing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. It just goes to show how much of a difference we can make in such a short time, imagine if we took a lot of time to just help people around the world.

  10. Sarah Kinsley says:

As soon as I found out we were getting Kingdom Worker cards I started praying. I said, God, please use me in ways that I cannot imagine. I’m willing to go out of my comfort zone, just please use me. Well He definitely answered my prayer. I opened my card and this is what it said, ’500 Turkeys’ “Organize a food drive for Thanksgiving this year. Make it your goal to raise enough food and funds to feed 500 families.” My first thought was, “that’s awesome!” Then my friend James opened his card, he got the same one. My next thought was, “One thousand turkeys! Woaaaah.” But I was still really excited that now I wasn’t alone in this. Then as we were going around in a circle sharing what our cards said, Colton announced that he got the same one. One thousand five hundred turkeys! THEN, the next day, I found out that Matt got the same card. Two. Thousand. Turkeys. Although I am a bit intimidated by that huge number, I trust God will take care of it and through us we’ll really make a huge difference. He only answered my prayer, he’s definitely using me in ways I can’t imagine. With the help of these three guys and, of course, God, we will be impacting two thousand lives this Thanksgiving.

  11. Monica Smith says:

YaY!! To add on to Sean’s story of the mall… after lunch at In n out with everybody a BUNCH of us Resonaters met up at the mall. We split into different groups and we all took a place… before our groups got into partners we said a prayer holding hands by the food court asking God to give us strength and courage to glorify Him to our peers. Then Sarah K. and I split off into partners. We saw these two girls sitting down at some couches. So we go over there and Sarah starts us off by introducing ourselves. Then we asked them if they were in high school. They said they were incoming freshman. We were so excited because both of them were sort of in chair #2… The “chair of compromise” Having 1 foot with God and the other with the world. And we talked to them and told them about all the cool things we do & told them about CIY and how God changed our lives & how awesome Resonate is. And they said they really want to go! So we got their numbers & we added them on facebook! Please pray for those girls! Some other encounters not as great, but we planted seeds :)

  12. Mary Thomas says:

my kingdom worker card said to sponser a single mother, widow, etc. so every time i go to the grocery store i buy a various baby item and at the end of every month i give it to a single mother who is part of the Neveahs Hope organization and this is my way of sponsering a single mother in need. Also its my goal to be a babysitter at a womens shelter and in that way i will also be serving women in need.

  13. Sean Rosenberg says:

So! Me and a BUNCH of people went to the mall today to invite people to resonate, and tell them about christ. Unfortunately my group was unable to get people to come out of the many people we talked to. But we did get to plant seeds, So at least that was accomplished. At the very end Andrew and I were gonna leave to go back to my house, But one of the people we talked to stopped us. And during the conversation andrew brought up that the girl was almost in highschool, so he said. “If anyone offers you ciggerates just don’t do it!” She looked at us kind of weird and responded. “I know that, Cigs taste bad. Weed tastes better.” Andrew and I were somewhat Awestruck at the moment, The girl was twelve? So andrew looked at her at said, “Do you know how much Carcinogenes is in weed?” she looked at us puzzled and asked what that was. Of coarse andrew said. “Cancerous Substances.” She responded “Oh, there’s more in cigs?” Andrew answered, “No. There’s about 20 times more in Weed.” We had given hugs and said goodbyes. But that definately affected Andrew and I. We definately need to help out more. Were going to pass out cards to Resonate every Sunday at the mall now. CAN’T WAIT TO DO MORE.(:
